Just a precautionary note. I have the K-50, and shortly after 1 year of use (and thousands of photos later). I had to send mine in for repair. The exposure was not functioning properly. Thankfully, there s a 2 year warranty on the camera, so I got mine fixed for only the shipping cost. They fixed it well so far, but only got it back yesterday. I hope that's ALL the problems I have with it. I just feel it's important to know things that can go wrong with the camera to make an error-free choice. I hope you don't get the same problem in whatever camera you decide to get, but at least now you know of one problem.

I suppose if you have a choice, I would purchase extension warranty, just to be safe. I didn't have that offer, so I only have till Next January, and then I'm on the hook for the repair. Other than this problem, I VERY MUCH love my k-50.

I also posted earlier that my K50 had the aperture control block problem - it happened during my 1 year warranty and it was repaired and has worked every since without problems. My repair was done at the new (Precision) facility.

How long has it been since the repair? I'd be curious to know. I just received mine back this May 11, 2015. Mine was repaired at Sun Camera Service, in Ontario. Can you provide the link to the post you made about it?

I ended up buying the 2 lens kit myself.

for 2 very reasons.

1. Very very biased. I got a red K-50. I really wanted the red one. and I really really wanted the red 18-55 kit lens with it. It works well though because most of what I shoot is automotive stuff at car shows. The 18-55 is plenty for what I need, in the space I usually have to shoot.

2. I wanted the extra zoom to 200mm that the second lens has, until I could get around to eventually buying a 100-300 or something further. As I do love automotive photography I wanted to get into shooting races and such as well. Having the extra distance seemed like the better choice for me.

I did a bunch of reading up and looking into it before buying, and though I was sure the 18-135 is a better overall lens, It seemed the 2 lenses kit were both very good lenses as well, and suited my personal needs better. So my opinion is to look into what will serve YOU better. Because getting a camera and kit that best suits your needs is what matters most.

Thank you heavycorphotography for your perspective. That's what I'm trying to decide which bundle will serve my needs best. It seems I can't go wrong with either one just trying to decide which one will be better.

9 months roughly. It was returned sometime in September of 2014.

Another +1 for the K-50 & DA18-135mm. I started out with that
combo also in Red. Good Luck!
Let us know what you decide.

If you pick the K50 DA18-135 bundle on Adorama right now you can add the 50 F1.8 for free.

I just bought one and added the extra 2 year warranty for $20.

The 50mm plastic fantastic is a nice lens. You will like it if you get that bundle.

I was just looking at the bundle that comes with free 50mm and came here to ask if that was a good deal. I've been price watching trying to get the best price possible. I was looking at $307 for body and and 50mm and wanted to know if it was a good place to start and build. I'll go back and look 18-135 bundle.

Please excuse my ignorance and don't mean to offend those that have contributed and have recommended camera with 18-135 lens. The 2 kit lens attracts me because of the 55-200 mm lens as I see it having better reach. I don't like to go to the front of the stage and block other parents to grab that school assembly pic. I'm thinking the longer lens will help with that and at games but if it will produce bad pictures then I guess it is a waste. I do like the price that the 2 kit bundle is at with given 3rd free 50 mm lens that will help in low light situations I think. Am I off in my thinking?

If you really need the reach of the 55-200 then go for it. I had a lens that went out to 250 on my K10d and after looking through my old pictures realized I didn't go out that far during normal shooting. Only did just because I felt I had to use the extra reach. Sounds like you will use it though.

The 18-135 gets a lot of love and seems to produce great images. Just seemed like a better one lens solution for me. Sounds like you are looking to go further out though.

The price on the kit you are looking at is really great too.

Thanks to all of you for your input. Ended up getting 2 lens kit bundle with additional 35mm and 50mm lenses. Used at daughter's ceremony this morning and extremely happy with results. Deal I got was a great deal and couldn't pass up. Off to kids games this afternoon.
