I had one initially on my k-30, but took it off after a year or so, after a while I didn't think it was necessary.

Nope. My K30 has never acquired any scratches from not having one either.

All the time. Why take the chance of scratching your LCD screen when you can protect it for a couple dollars. If that get scratched it's a hell of a lot cheaper to replace than a whole new LCD screen. And it protects it from impacts as well. It's called piece of mind.

I used to use them, on cameras and phones. But they increase glare, reduce clarity and brightness, and ultimately
scratch MUCH easier than the glass itself. Realizing I am, in general, pretty tidy with my tools, I decided I didn't need
a screen protector. Haven't missed them and haven't had a problem without the 'protection'.

My point exactly. If you are going to sell it some day then get one. If you are going to keep it until it dies then you don't need one.

Got a case for Galaxy note with free screen protectors so trimmed and installed one on my k3. Managed to get a scratch on the K20 screen so decided I'd be a bit more ready this time. No issues with glare etc. The dust here is really sharp edged so all it takes to scratch some thing is a quick wipe with a cloth and the damage is done. See it all the time on my eye glasses so I rinse them with warm water before cleaning each morning. Not such a good habit with the camera, wr or no wr.

I have used one on my K-7: Hoodman Super Hoodskins (Model SHSK 3) reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database. 7 years on, it is still doing its job.

With my K-3, I don't use a LCD protector because the LCD screen is tougher and I had no problem in 3 years.

If your talking the soft plastic kind then no they are a pita, however I have protected every camera with an LCD I have owned with Acmaxx protectors. To me it's well worth an extra $15 to $19 to not have to be concerned about possible damage.
