I have shoot many color runs with my k5 and never had any problems with it so its up to you really.

No, in a word. Roger at Lens Rental has posted about lenses he got back from one of those runs. Basically the gunk was everywhere and some of the lenses he pulled apart were weather sealed in some form or another. Personally I'd also be worried about what I breath in. I doubt this stuff has been subjected to long term respiratory health studies and being so fine will end up very deep in your lungs.
