You will find this information in the review sections of the forum, in this case the Pentax Camera Reviews, K-50.

The top section gives the accurate specs and and other information. Do you believe the intro year is in error?

Why shouldn't it still be sold as new? Ricoh hasn't announced it as a discontinued model as of yet. Even If it it were discontinued existing unsold stock is still sold as new unless it was previously sold and "used".

Production cycles of camera bodies an lenses are handled like it was for book printing in the old days.
There will be fixed production lines only for the best selling models. For the others, they may produce a charge of what they think they can sell for the next 12 months, then change for another model, and so on. If needed, a production line could be (costly!) re-installed at a later time.

As a result, when production of an item finally ends, there will still be enough there to sell for anything from 3 months to 3 years.
In some cases, they delay announcement for several months, otherwise sales would be hurt too much and they would have to sell under production cost. I someone leaks the fact too early, the company will loose a lot of money.

It is generally the rule that EOL is not formally announced. More often, it is confirmed when people make inquiry. Folk have been suggesting that the K-50 has been replaced since the release of the K-S1, but there it is, still in the stores and definitely still for sale.

Maybe the OP is just confusing 'New' as in new up-to-the-minute model, with 'New' as in unused retail stock. Semantics.
