Another AA question

You can get the AA battery holders for under $5 from Amazon and Ebay. Looks like they have silver contacts and the factory units have gold. Are the cheap ones a waste of money? OEM is available for $24.

They work just fine. It's your call some people have reported problems with the 3rd party ones, I haven't but they do add a fair amount of weight. Wasabi batteries can be had fairly cheap and work great. I use one on my k50. Cheap far east made knockoff.

I have a cheap $4 one for my K30. It's for emergencies and comes out when it's time to use the AA batteries out of my flashes!

There may be variation even among the knockoffs. I vaguely remember hearing of the plastic cracking on cheap ones; I have two $6 knockoffs that I bought in 2011 (they were a little more expensive in those days) and I've never had any trouble.

I have an official one but never use it. Ended up buying a pack of 4 non-genuine batteries off Ebay to use rather than deal with the AAs.
