K-50 weather sealing

I've been little skeptic about the weather sealing in dslr:s. But my worries seem to be pointless, as this picture proves...
I was shooting some offroad driving on 21.11-15, and my camera got it share of mud and water, but after I wiped it with moist cloth it looked like new again. Even the lens did not get any damage.

Good point Imp - I'd leave that lens in a warm spot to 'air out' a while

flugfiske - glad the shoot reassures you! I just got my 'Sammy Hagar' red-rocker K-50 so I'll be learning its WR qualities right along with you. I will stick with the 18-55wr in my tests though, at least for now!

Yes, even so. I got lucky this time, but I think it's better to use wr lenses in future....

Glad it worked out so well! Yeah, non-WR lenses have the possibility of water entering the barrel and, because the mount is not protected, even the camera. We see a lot of success stories like this on the forums, though, and they are always uplifting!

I've had my prior K-5 II with both the 18-135 & 20-40 WR lens out in the rain, the 18-135 in some serious rain. The most fun time was with the K-5 II & 20-40 at a church water balloon fight.

My red K-50 / 18-135WR made it through Niagara Falls on the Maid of the Mist as well as the Journey Behind The Falls. No problem, except I had to switch to manual focus after too much water accumulated on the lens...

Um, okay...

Sounds like a K-500 to me.

You're technician is wrong, or someone removed the seals.

Unless k50 uses a new way of seals without using rubber similar to the one behind the WR lenses perhaps by firmly pressing one side onto another then it doesn't have.
Bought it new so I don't know. And I can't find any dissemble on the net.

I mean, I guess I can't dispute what your technician told you, but what you're saying now is that Pentax sold two versions of a camera, one with seals and one without (K-50 and K-500)...but that the one marketed as having seals actually didn't have any. And you and your technician are the only ones who found out.

Sorry if I sound too sarcastic, but to come on here and say that the K-50 has "zero" seals is pretty crazy.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it
The seal on the back of WR lenses is an 'external' compression seal, not an internal type which seals seams.. There's a difference, unless you think Pentax are deceiving us?

Pentax is a company like all the rest.
It has entire stashes of products that didn't make the standards and were cut from selling.
How possible you think it is for someone get his hands on these? I am in Greece, so I am pretty much sure this CAN happen.
Plus I said Zero seals on the bottom. We didn't open the top, back or front. There are 13 screws on the bottom side unscrew them and take a peek.
And also these cameras are rarely problematic. I almost didn't found any post regarding mirror flop and you need to have a technician who can trust you with these details. Pentax surely won't tell this to you if it's true. I work at a photostore which provides service as well.
Anyway I sent my k50 to Official Pentax service and waiting to receive word from them anyday now.
Any1 knows how much a lever diaphragm costs?
