Mine is only at 2800 clicks. So still a young'un.

I emailed Pentax customer support, but have not received an email back. Hinomaru, how much did yours cost to fix?

Through another Craig's List deal, I ended up with ANOTHER K-50! That makes 3 now! I like the idea of having two on hand, but at some point, I've got to say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"! I have 3 K-50's, a K-x (love that little camera!) and a K10D. I also had a K-r but sold it. I'm thinking of selling one of the K-50's. All three have performed flawlessly. LOVE 'EM! One of the best cameras Pentax ever made, bar NONE! I'd like to find a Pink K-x for my granddaughter. Her birthday is coming up in March.

You need to find a K-30, Mr. Dewman. It's like a K-50, only better looking.

Sorry to hear that you are having the same problem.

Luckily mine was repaired under warranty - 8 months after purchase and only had 1200 clicks. I believe they charge $160 miminum for out of warranty repairs. But with so many K30s and K50s affected - Ricoh / Pentax ought to issue a recall and fix free of charge to those that failed. However, they most likely won't.

Rick

I agree with this.

same problem here.just happened last night at my nephews birthday and was gutted. tested this morning with another lens that has an aperture ring and setting it manually and pics came out fine. ive been shooting for the past 2 months with my 2 helios lenses and never noticed a thing, so probably the problem might be older. camera is at 6500 clicks and replaced the aperture control lever at around 3000 under warranty.think i still might be under warranty, hopefully I am, otherwise its time for an upgrade.

I suppose I must be one of the lucky ones, as I have two K-50's with over 10K SA's each and not a single problem. Same with my K-30. Love them all.

I DID find a K-30 and I agree..... I think it IS better looking! But, like my children, I love them both! I think it would be interesting to see just how many actual K-50's have exhibited the problems I continue to hear about. I mean, in terms of how many out of evey 1,000, lets say. Personally, I think it's blown way out of proportion.

My K30 crashes sometimes. i.e. it freezes up and becomes unresponsive to button presses. A couple of times I've had to take the battery out , as the on/off switch did nothing. Reinserting the battery and it goes back to normal.

Anyone else had this happen to them?

That was a problem that occurred once in a blue moon with my first K-50. I think only twice. As you said, removing and replacing the battery solved the problem. If that's the only problem I ever have with this marvelous piece of machinery, I'm thrilled to death!

Oh gosh, sorry to hear! I made sure to buy my K-50 with a 3 year Amazon Warranty. Over 4,000 shots though and not a darn tootin problem. I love this bugger, I'd be crying without it.

I've had the same thing happen to mine a couple of times and my solution was the same. The first time it happened I was new to digital and terrified and didn't know what to do - I pulled the battery out in desperation and everything was fine afterwards. So when it happened again I knew what to do. I just put it down to something that the K30 does (I don't think it's happened to my K50)

I think we are living parallel lives Dewman - I just picked up a second K50 on Ebay at a price that was too good to ignore. It's essentially brand new with just 650 shutter actuations. I think the K30 is better looking but both are such fantastic camera's that I don't see any reason to upgrade to anything else unless something catastrophic happens to the ones I've got.

It goes without saying that if I did ever upgrade it would be to another Pentax!!

Looks like the auto focus lever has failed for my Pentax as well just a year old. Only had 2000 clicks. Is there a way to fix it.
