Four-position Focus Mode Switch

My K-30 is developing a four-position focus mode switch.

I can feel four positions as I move the switch. Switching from AF.S to C is ok, and switching to MF is ok since it's at the end of the range. However switching from MF to C is ambiguous. It feels like it's snapping into a position between MF and C.

Anyone else seen this?

"Broken" being the 4th?

I think mine on the K-5IIs can drift midway between MF and AF and stick. It is obvious when the camera refuses to AF which it is. I'm sure it's fine.

I'll have to see what develops.Worse case is that it turns into a two-way switch...

Does it happen when the camera doesn't have a lens mounted? Since moving the switch to MF retracts the focus drive screw, perhaps something on the mount flange (camera or lens side) has a tendency to jam the focus screw.

I did not know that. It seems more pronounced with no lens attached. The drive screw when retracted is slightly off-center and gets slightly caught when extending.

(Sorry for the delay in responding, I was away to a swim meet.)

My K-50 also does this, never noticed until now when you mention it.
Pos. 1 AFA - Screw drive extended - AF works
Pos. 2 AFC - Screw drive extended - AF works
Pos. 3 AFC - Screw drive half extended - AF works
Pos. 4 MF - Screw drive retracted - MF

Since I now know that this is partially mechanical I'm not that worried. If the switch is aligned with the C then it looks like the mechanical parts are in the right place.
