Haha you are lucky your wife is taking an interest in a DSLR. My wife has no interest in photography so I can't buy gear with the excuse of getting it for here lol. I have a black K-50 but sometimes I wish I had spent the extra 100 bucks to get a cool color.

Just from the title, I thought this was going to be one of those "Pentax is doomed" threads. Glad it turned out to be just the opposite.

Well if I were to pick a color other than black it would be Olive Drab green. I sure would not choose red or pink or blue or......
At least with OD green you can use the excuse that it is for wildlife shooting.

I am glad my wife has taken an interest in photography. She really has a natural eye. I am trying to teach her the technical side of things and why what settings do what on a camera. There are times her eyes glaze over and I completely loose her though.

I got my wife a red K-50. She loves the color & so does everyone else. One thing is for sure, it gets more attention than my black one. A lot of people think it's pretty cool & wish their camera had more color options than just black. Then I tell them that at one point you were able to configure a K-50 from 120 possible color combinations & it makes them more "jelly".

I originally wanted a blue with black grip, orange with black grip, or yellow with black grip, but eventually I settled for plain black when I saw the price.

I may have solved my problem. I think we are going to get the K-S2. She wants WiFi. Luckily it does not come in red.

Think about it this way. Get two pink k-50s. Your wife gets very very happy.
Since weddings are all about the bride, the bride is happy with your strapping to pink cameras. Translation, you are in touch with your feminine side.
You get chosen for the gig. And get noticed by to be brides who come to the weddings you shoot. More money.

More money...........More problems?

Why did Pentax have to make the K-50 in colors?

So I could buy the white K-50 yesterday, so it compliments my K-x Storm Trooper.

That is exactly why I got a blue one. I take a lot of pictures of the "street photo" genre - people are important to the scene and I don't want the presence of my camera to affect how they look. For years people would look at me suspiciously, if not come out and ask "Who are you with?" It seems to be better now that I have a camera that clearly labels me as an amateur.
