Any succsessful K-50 latent defect claim?

This forum and the facebook pages for Pentax are full of peeps moaning about their K-50 developing a fault whereby images are underexposed (often challenged by experts)

Well my K-50 has been playing up for a while. So much so have not used it for a few weeks but with an ISS flyover due tonight I retrived it from its case to join my K5 in trying to capture it

Recently i had been able to 'wake it up' by firing off a few frames at High Speed Continuous, but no joy tonight

No matter what mode, apart from Bulb, images were dark - even in manual and then using same lens/settings on my K5 - it is clear the K-50

My warranty expired back in March, current shutter count is.1600, so wonder if anyone has claimed against latent defect warranty or had to pay up for thrs problem?

Thanks

When did you start having problems? If within a few weeks of your warranty expiration, Pentax might have honored a warranty claim* and they may still. I would contact them.

* At least, here in the U.S., Ricoh N.A. have been fairly lenient.

I'd contact Ricoh and see if they will still be willing to repair it under warranty.

Also, if you used a Visa signature card to make the purchase, your credit card company may offer an additional year of warranty (most Visa credit cards have this benefit).

In daylight i can see the issue
no matter what mode or selected aperture the lens is firing at highest aperture
if i meter for f32 then images are fine, anything wider and they are grossly underexposed
i know it is not the lens/es as all is well when fitted to my K5

Your problem is very common. Go to the bellow thread where it is being discussed.
