@shilas; can you confirm whether you have your shutter release half-press set for AF, or no? It makes a difference to CIF.

When shooting with autofocus lenses - yes, half-press always focuses for me, if that is what you are asking.
(aim for composition > half-press for autofocus > get red square thingie in viewfinder as confirmation > full-press for shot).

Just got a K-50. I use catch in focus exclusively for my macro shots. I find it works much faster and better than my K-5 using my Vivitar 55 2.8 Macro. Some lens you will have to remove the coating from the mount in a small area where it meets the contact. I had to scrape it away on my extension tube set to make it work. If the lens mount is bright metal it should work fine.
