K-50 - Aperture block or shutter failure serial number?

Did not find a thread on this....so I apologize if this has been discussed.

So I just got a new K-50 today and was reading about the aperture failure. I noticed in the serial number database here that the serials stop at 500,000 and then start again at 600,000. there are none in between. Now I have seen this with other items when there is a hardware change.

Any thoughts?

I don't think so, as the K-S2 (2 years newer) also exhibits the same issue. Production of the K-50 stopped not long after the K-S2 came out.

In days of yore Pentax would send out service bulletins to explain upgrades. Since nobody but their chosen service provider can easily get parts etc. no information is available. My K-50 is 612xxxx. I have my fingers crossed.

Nowhere near as common, but the K-S2 also hasn't been around as long. The failure seems to be related more to time than use.

I was wondering about this. My K-50 is S/N 618etc. Approx 4000 shutter activations. So far one black frame on start up months ago. Apart from that ok.
