Question about K-50 and Auto ISO.

Maybe just an observation. BTW, love the camera!

I usually shoot AP and Auto ISO unless I am doing something wonky. Most cameras I have will put emphases on lowest ISO then shutter speed. I notice that the K-50 seems to put emphases on shutter speeds, and if they drop below 1/250 then it will bump the ISO past 100. Seems most cameras I have used will not bump up ISO until shutter speeds drop below 1/80th. Not that big of deal as I have gotten used to setting ISO ether as a set one or a smaller range in Auto.

There's a menu setting that lets you control how early the camera starts increment the ISO I'm not 100% sure if the K-50 has it, but I think it does.

On high-end bodies, you can also select the program line to prioritize either the shutter speed or aperture.

I don't see it in the camera menu or the manual, but I might just be missing the wording.

Thanks!

Confirmed, looks like it's not on the K-50. I am seeing it on the K-3 and K-1 (ISO Auto Options in the record menu). It would make sense that both settings are limited to the flagship bodies, since you get scene modes on the K-50 to make up for the lack of individual settings.

As a turnaround, what I've done is to program the front wheel for ISO in AV mode. That way, if I find the ISO too high and lower speed is acceptable, it's quite easy and fast to make the adjustment while still looking in the viewfinder.

That is a perfect solution. Thanks!

I do find it odd that Pentax choose this programing with the ISO/Shutter choice. With in camera stabilization you think they would bet that a lower shutter would be acceptable.
