D FA 100\2.8 macro. Just stand between my camera with tripod and hummingbird feeder about 10 inches. Hummingbirds trust me so much.

If you stand between me and my food there won't be time to shoot photo. I'm not as trusting

Amazing ... I have trouble getting them close enough for me to take a picture with a telephoto lens. You, and the camera, did good.

According to the EXIF, this was done with a K-50 @ ISO=1250. I'm amazed a K-50 would do so well at that ISO - I don't allow K-30 that high if I have any choice at all.

I think K30 is OK to 3200

Really? Is the K-50 bad with higher ISOs? I have no problem doing 1600 (or even 3200 if necessary) on a K-5, is the sensor different than the K-5?

Outstanding photo. What is your secret for getting so close? We have one hummer species here in the Northeast US and that is the Ruby Throat and I cannot ever get close to them. Anyone who does not live in an area where hummingbirds are present can't realize how difficult they are to photograph since they are so tiny and fast.

Did you use the Catch In Focus = On? That is what I use sometimes for subjects that are hard to catch with AF or MF.
