I decided to put my money where my mouth was and put a dab of car paint on my green solenoid.
That feels very strange now:
First on Jan 10th you wrote that you built in the white Japan-Solenoid from your donor Pentax (with 2 white Japan solenoids) into your K50 and it was working fine.
You even offered to sell the other Japan-Solenoid from your donor-camera.

Now, what I don't get:
Who on earth would disassemble his/her working K50 again (screw threads do get weakened), unsolder the functioning great Japan-solenoid to take it out and then built in the inferior green China-solenoid with a dab of car paint on it?

Just to proof that this works as well?

And that 16 days later?

You see, member K50lives did the opposite, he first sanded his green green solenoid but very shortly later on got a K-x for the white Japan-Solenoid for replacement. That I understand of course (but his claim of the green solenoid working perfectly rests a bit on quick-sand, nevertheless, some filed solenoids have lasted, others haven't and I did a lot of research with all sorts of filings and other mods)

Just as I suspected, my camera works perfectly now with the old solenoid. I guess that means I have two white solenoids I can sell now
Sounds strange: do you guess or is it a matter of fact?

Nobody here in those discussions is trying to make any money!

... or try to force anything down someone's throat.
Nor is anybody trying to force something down your throat. But if you claim to understand the laws of physics and then mix them up right the next sentence you should at least be prepared that this is going to be set straight.
Correcting errors has nothing to do with forcing anything down another person's throat. We are not in a French "foie gras factory"

I thought I just offered some advice based on science and measurements.
But your advice is based on wrong understanding of science and zero measurements.

Being able to measure inductivity needs at least an LCR-meter:

But even if you measure the inductivity of the two coils: What for?

I figured some people don't have a lots of money to spend or don't know how to solder, so I offered some suggestions that might work. Non-destructive advice that can be undone.
There is nothing wrong in offering intelligent alternatives, but we have searched for this since the first K30's got the "dark-image-syndrom"
Advice can be undone and yet, often it happens that such advice leads a person already into the wrong direction.

But wrong methods translated into action, i.e. inserting a green China-solenoid with paint on the plunger can lead to further damage.
