Battery: 1400mAh or 2100mAh?

I am interested in picking up a 3rd party battery for my K-50. There are 2 power ratings and I would like to get the higher 2100mAh type. Do you think the extra power rating would do any harm? Obviously the higher power would give me more flash shots, correct? Or should I just get the 1400mAh? thanks

I've had a glass of brandy so bear with me.

Sometimes less is more.
Especially when it concerns Chinese fakes.
Quick quiz; When does a 400mah battery outperform a 2300mah battery?

If you're looking for battery life, the OEM battery is usually the best. If that fails, go with reputable brands. Wasabi tends to get pretty good reviews and is cheaper than OEM.

Battery mah is very poorly correlated to reality in third party batteries. It is a sad state of affairs but true.

Buy what you can afford and understand the oem batteries tend to be better.

I would recommend avoiding the no-name batteries altogether, regardless of power rating. Some of them are fine, some are less so, and some can be outright dangerous if a fault occurs - if not to you personally, then to your equipment at the very least. These are, I think, in the minority, but there's really no way of knowing, so I wouldn't take the risk. Go with OEM, or a well-known and well-respected third-party brand that provides a warranty. In the US, I hear Wasabi batteries are a good choice. Here in the UK, I find Ex-Pro to be very good (they also stand behind their warranty and replacement claims).

For your K-50 I suggest getting an AA adapter and using Eneloops Pro, I get super long battery life with them.

For K50 you can get an off-brand AA adapter for $2 and eneloops - one of the best solutions.
Regarding off-brand Li-Ion...don't go with a high-capacity noname - they tend to bloat - 1) it is dangerous, 2) it is hard to extract the battery from the compartment if it happens. For Li-Ion I would go with Ansmann or something along those lines - they are lower capacity and more expensive but you get a quality product. No more cheapo Li-Ions for me - they just bloat.
