The first reverting from K-50 to K-30 is also safe, because the settings are reset too.
But during the next switches, the settings will no longer reset automatically. And after the flashing, the camera will enter a strange state of "crazy" settings, and these settings will most likely cause the camera to hang soon after turning on.
This doesn't seem to be harmful to the camera, and I've faced this problem several times, as well as a couple of testers. The problem can easily be solved by entering the debug mode, and making factory reset from there.
Hello,
I will describe some situation and have the questions
1. I had original K-30 version 1.06 and upgraded to K-50 v1.10 (with name K-50 in EXIF). Then I tried to access Debug Mode through the PK-Tether software using file 00077650.524 (K-30 version) or file 00077750.545 (K-50 version) written to SD card. In both cases PK-Tether program crashed when I switched camera On. So, I can't access Debug Mode on modified K-30 camera.
2. I decided to revert to the original K-30 v1.06. FW downgrade was successful. I can access Debug Mode now.
3. But I would like to upgrade again to "camera name preserving" version 1.10.
Questions:
1. What should I do to upgrade again to "camera name preserving" version 1.10?
2. Is it safe? (I ask because ABel wrote that camera will display strange settings and I will need to access Debug mode to reset User data, BUT Debud mode did not work to me when I upgraded to v1.10).
3. Maybe there is another method except PK-Tether to access Debug Mode?
Thank you in advance
