Unfortunately didn't solve the main issue.
My K-30 is a working camera , but only using LiveView.
Using Viewfinder , exposure and focusing not works.

Thanks anyway for your help.
can it be this is your problem?

Hello, I will test your firmware on my K-30 too, so I will let you know in the next month if everything is fine. It seems very likely K-30 and K-50 share very similar (euphemism not to say something else) hardware, isn't it?
In the meanwhile thanks for your efforts.

I was hoping for some video improvements, but alas, contrary to what was quoted earlier , video recording does not stop at "4GB or 25 minutes, whichever comes first". In the highest quality, I'm limited to 16min38s.
The resulting MOV file is 2.6GB. So, neither the 25 minutes nor 4GB were hit. The countdown started from 16min39s right from pressing the shutter in video mode
Guess this is nothing new, just broken video as usual for Pentax.
This is standard behaviour with K-30 too and nothing wrong with video mode: I suppose the camera simply calculate the video limit related to the SD transfer speed and camera buffer (remember for video purpose at least a class 10 is usually recommended). I just have done this simple test, I put a class 4 SD and I got a 16'06" movie resulting in a 2.5 GB size file, but if I put a class 10 SD the camera counter show me 99'59" before to shoot the movie (you could read this as unlimited, but obviously I think the 24 minutes limit will stop the movie before).

All still great on my K30 with this firmware been almost 6 months now, still holding out for a 55-300 plm. If the K50 gets a new firmware will we also see one from ABel ???

Don't think the K50 will receive another update. We are lucky it got the last one.
What is sad is that the K500 didn't get one, because it is a scaled down K50, would have been easy for Ricoh to do it, but I guess sales of the K500 were pretty low compared to those of the K50.

Are there any sources where one can check total sales of for example the K30 and K50?

I'll can surely adapt the newer firmware to K-30 - as soon as it's released

IF Ricoh ever releases another f/w update for the K50 - which is "doubtful" at best

I'm a K30 owner, no wifi card or 55-300PLM (I have to make do with a F*300 f4.5). Changing the filename would be useful but does the hack really improve the AF? How does a genuine K50 compare to a hacked 1.10 K30 regarding AutoFocus? The hardware is the same but better AF algorithms in the 1.10 firmware?

I don't believe the ISO 'raise' works though in practical terms, 12800 is impractical for my photography without needing 25600 anyway. I think true high ISO improvements requires better hardware (electronics to boost the signal that is collected). Probably the K50 marketing department thought of the ISO boost and then went silly with the ISO claims of the Pentax KP!!!

Liveview focusing on the K30 got better with the hacked firmware, as good as the K50

12,800 ISO may be impractical to you, however, the 25,600 ISO was already available on the K-30 (you need to enable expanded ISO in the custom settings menu).
All the K-50 firmware did was make the ISO native instead of having to go into a menu to enable the extra value.
I've shot at 10,000 ISO at an indoor theatrical event and the client loved it. Good detail and dynamic range for limited ambient lighting.
I do agree, that not everyone shoots or has the need to shoot at such high ISO's but I don't find it impractical, I've actually been glad it was available.

and thats the Pentax difference, the high iso..While others are afraid to go beyond 3200, we can shoot 128 and be happy!

I'm the polar opposite, nearly a 100% landscape photographer printing up to 20" x 30" so never above the ISO 100 mark. However I do some astro and nightscapes and the K30 @ ISO 1600 is excellent in long exposures with the astrotracer module when it tracks well. The Sony Exmor sensor has good dark current suppression which has nothing to do with high ISO performance.

Liveview is something I don't use either with the exception of a bit of macro work on flowers usually in the summer. All of my focussing is usually hyperfocal for landscapes so as yet I haven't loaded the hackware here. The odd time the K30 does freeze though requiring a battery removal/reload but it only takes a few seconds.

I can't see me wanting a K30 replacement, it is a great camera. I don't even want a K1 but looking at a 645N here and the 645D is coming down in price in the used market although still a bit out of my range. But for a crop sensor, the K30 with Ltd lenses is great for long hikes to get the images I look for.

I found this thread when looking for some other hack, but then this one is simple and great. I have flashed this firmware on my K-30. Everything good! Thanks!

Okay, let me first state, I read through all 9 pages and still didn't see where anyone has asked or have the question answered here.

I have two K-30s. One is fine, the other not so fine although it works okay with the AA adapter, it has developed the aperture block failure. I know this firmware update won't fix that problem. However, I'm asking is it feasible to upgrade to your firmware on my semi broken K-30?
