Okay, let me first state, I read through all 9 pages and still didn't see where anyone has asked or have the question answered here.

I have two K-30s. One is fine, the other not so fine although it works okay with the AA adapter, it has developed the aperture block failure. I know this firmware update won't fix that problem. However, I'm asking is it feasible to upgrade to your firmware on my semi broken K-30?
It's possible to install this firmware as long as the camera logic works, and a broken aperture solenoid surely won't affect this.

I haven't had any aperture block problems, but I can't think of any reason why you couldn't upgrade the firmware on your partially broken K-30. Even if the upgrade somehow fails, you can still reinstall the last official firmware for the K-30.

I don't have any way of proving an improvement in AF, it doesn't seem to hunt as much as it did before, but the K-30's AF never was that good. Infinitely better than the Super Program I was using before, though.

Thanks Abel. I'm going to give it ago next month. I'm using it this month in a SIC and don't want to interrupt that until after the 31st.

Thanks for the input.

The aperture block failed after 33,000 shutter actuations, and it now has 36,000 odd shutter actuations. .I'd been and still am using the AA adapter with it. Of course I only use Eneloops rechargeables too.

Thanks again Abel I have been running the K50 firmware on my K30 for 9 months with no problems. Today I got my new DA 55-300 PLM and it works perfectly. I mostly use my K30 for wildlife so I may not care to much if the aperture block dies now that I have the PLM lens. I do have 4 other DA lenses so I really hope it doesn't die but at least it will not be useless.

Just letting you know, I updated the firmware on my broken aperture K-30. EXIF shows as K-30, when I used the extra file you created. So far all is good. Firmware in camera shows v1.10. YAY!! Thank you!!

The reason for updating my two K-30s is because I wanted to buy the PLM 55-300mm and only my K-50 could use it before the updated firmware, now I can buy the PLM anyway and use it with all three of my cameras. While shooting the wildlife I do, I'm sure the newest 55-300mm will do me well.

I don't know what happened on the second one but it will not show shutter speed, all I get in display is ISO. So, I reverted back to v1.06. Didn't revert still showing version v1.10. And still nothing like I had before the update. No, AV, No TAV, No M which is what I shoot all the time. No shutter speed showing or adjustable. Just ISO setting.

I've pulled the battery and will leave it out until tomorrow.

Left battery out two hours things are back to normal. I don't know what happened with this one, I did the same I've done forever one of my cameras when installing new firmware, card formatted, batteries fully charge, and never turned off camera. Just a glitch I guess.

Very strange.
Perhaps, resetting the camera to the factory default settings could also solve the problem.

Nope, that didn't work either. I did that twice. Leaving the battery out for a few hours is what fixed it.

Thanks for letting know!
This might be useful for other camera owners with similar problems.

You're welcome. And it might help someone who comes across the problem I had.

I've found that when there is a problem that resetting the camera doesn't work, leaving the battery out for a few hours fixes most problems. I've fixed a K10D and a K-x this way.

The good news now is I can buy the newer DA 55-300mm PLM lens and use it with any camera I own.

I'm eager to see if newer KAF4 lenses would work with this firmware

Has anyone run across a bug where when pressing the green button, the camera says "battery depleted" and of course the batteries are not depleted? I had this happen on my broken aperture K-30, but is not happening on my fully functional K-30.

Possible bug with running the K50 software v1.11 on a K30...

Friday using the remote 3sec delay sometimes it would take instantaneously without the 3sec and sometimes it would work as expected...

Can someone else test this using the infra-red remote? Not the wired remote.
