K-50 Date Changes Spontaneously

I have a 2 year old K-50. Works great and I am very happy with it. But twice in the past few months, the date has changed spontaneously to a bogus date and back again. Here is the last scenario. I turned on the camera and wandered around photographing birds for about an hour and a half. I did not switch the power off during that time. I should note that I had the GPS unit attached. The camera created a folder for the day (102_0516) and the first 25 shots ended up there. The next 25 shots were dated 7-19-2041 and went into a new folder (103_0719). Then the camera corrected itself, dated the remaining photos correctly and stored them in yet another folder (104_0516). Everything else works fine. I don't lose photos and they have good quality. Any one else experience this?

Thanks.

The GPS provides a time synchronization option, and it's possible that this malfunctioned briefly. If your in-camera time is correct, I would disable this option via the GPS menu, and then you should be good to go!

I did as you suggested. I hadn't considered the ramifications of this option when I first got the GPS unit. Thanks for the pointer.

As a side note, the coordinates are still valid even when the date is wrong.
