NEWby Here!

Hi Guys,
I have a K-30 which i have had for a few years. It stopped working and it appears that the shutter mechanism is Capote!
I now have a K-3 II and have been using this.

So my question is; it worth having my K-30 Shutter / Repaired? I was told by a Melbourne based Photography Repair business. The reason the camera Shutter failed is because of many, digital pics taken compared to the Film photo taking period.

It may cost me $300Aus is it worth fixing it up?

Id use the camera as a back-up and maybe keep my 50mm lens on the camera or obtain a macro lens at some point.

Kind regards.

Sonic

Welcome to the forum Sonic.
I'd not spend $300 on a K-30. For that sort of money, you could get a K-5 or perhaps even an older K-3 for a backup.

Kind regards,
Mark

CR Kennedy are the official importers of Pentax into Australia. Head office is in Melbourne, with branches in other capitals. They have done several repairs for me in the past at reasonable cost, and they always got it right. You could ask them for a quote.

However, I suspect it won't be worth it.

By the way, do you know how many shutter actuations the K-30 has had? Upload a recent jpeg to Check Camera Shutter Count and Manufacture Date to find out.

Is it that the shutter really failed or is it taking dark images?

Take a look at the following threads.
