not to beat a dead horse, but aperture block question....

Does anyone know, if I bought a K30 or K50 camera that was sold in the Japan market, would it have the good solenoid?

Nay! They're all the same throughout the world. They're all equipped with that useless "green" solenoid.

The only minor difference are some of the programmed languages.

If the made-for-Japan K-30 and K-50 bodies are different, it must be one of the world's best kept secrets.

If my memory is correct, one of the earliest reports of aperture control failure of a K-30 on this site was a camera purchased in Japan that failed while the owner was on extended vacation in SE Asia. I believe they were able secure a replacement under warranty while still traveling, but don't know whether that camera remained trouble-free.

You might get a camera that has already been fixed. How permanent such a fix would be, I do not know.

The solenoid is the same worldwide. Meanwhile this problem is already known in Japan as well.

I had repaired a K30 purchased in Japan. Had to change the regional code as well using the debug menu.
