RAW to JPEG?

I took about 300 photos in RAW when I actually wanted JPEG.

Can I convert them on my K-50?

Thanks

Yes you can. Go to image review (Blue [>] button) then on the four way controller press the WB button, which will bring up a menu that includes the option to convert RAW to JPG (It's labelled RAW with a down arrow). You'll need to use the four way controller to scroll and select it, but that will allow you to get JPG images.
Unfortunately I think you'll have to do one image at a time, but if you don't want to download any raw conversion software, you can do it in camera.

Can anyone recommend a free program to convert 173 photos (DNG to JPEG)?

I have an old version of ACD SEE Pro 2 that won't let me do it.

I would even pay someone if they can do it for me.

Photos are of my niece for her Christmas card.

Thanks

You can do this in-camera. Detailed instructions are in Chapter 6 of the K-50 user manual. This can be done as both batch process (pages 200, 201) and for single images and does so without any changes to the original RAW files.

You can download the manual at from the page linked below, in case you don't have a copy.

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/download_manual.html

As an alternative, you can use the DCU software that came with your camera.

If you are interested you can also extract the preview from the RAW file using “ERawP” Welcome to the ERawP web pages
It’s a free tool and is available for Windows, Mac & Linux.
All you do is select the folder full of RAW files (source) & the Destination folder, then Extract. Done....

Faststone Image Viewer is free and will do batch convert of RAW to JPG. Is really easy to use.

Rawtherapee will also do it in a batch-run quickly just to put another option in the basket

I use Darktable or dcraw in batch mode on Linux. Otherwise the Pentax software does the job on Windows.

Rawtherapee will do it and it's free. Also a very good image editor, but has a learning curve.

Very well figured software. A lot of potential. Iíve been giving it a shot lately, trying to get unstuck from the Adobe line up, you can get the best results and as mentioned, itís free. Itís not ďheavyĒ for the hardware too.

I've just tried this, and yes it converts to jpg, but that's all! There is no processing of the image, and the file size is much smaller than the RAW original. So as you still need to process the new jpg version anyway you're better off sticking with the original as it will have so much more information in it.
