Unfortunately the problem remains, but the situation is better. Now the mirror stucks in upward position only for a two or three seconds and than returns alone.
And again - the problem doesn't appear in less than 280 - 300 mm zoom. very strange
today I've noticed that focusing produces more noise than other lenses and comes with a slight hit . (I don't know if I explain it well)
Now that you mention it, all the issues I had with my 70-300mm lens and the K5 was in the 280-300mm range. I always assumed that it was a short of some sort. Other symptoms included the camera's LCD display going blank and the camera becoming inoperable, until removal and replacement of the battery.

Short back through the power contacts?

Could well be. It was always at the long end of the zoom range and the problem seem to have gone away when used on the K-1ii, so maybe, the K5 was more sensitive to it. I don't know. Cleaning the contacts certainly seemed to have helped when using the 70-300 Sigma lens on the K5.

Even if it didn't resolve the problem for me it helped a lot. Now I only need to wait for a few seconds rater then turning of the camera.
Thanks for the advises

As Sigma would have reverse engineered the Pentax lens contact protocols, I wonder if there's something odd going on in that model lens, quite apart from the dirty contacts short.
I'm glad my post has helped you.
