Does anyone know how the shutter and mirror mechanism work? I guess there is a physical latch that holds the mirror up until the shutter closes? Does the mirror get driven both ways or is it sprung?

Hi,
so far no progress, gathering strength for the next disassembly, this time more thorough.
I will let you know when I do it

The shutter is driven by two very strong solenoids.
The mirror is lifted by a motor which sits on the diaphragm-control-unit (but is not directly connected)
Usually 1 motor and a socalled "return-spring" but sometimes by a return-motor.

How this works with the return-spring is shown here:

ohh... gosh... it's a Canon

The complex mechanism behind the diaphragm-control-unit is well shown here with this analog MZ5n:

Thank you all for help but I finally gave up. It's beyond my abilities. If I keep digging in it , I'll probably kill it. I put the camera up for sale "for parts". Maybe it will be useful to someone.
