Have you read this page on the CR Kennedy website. It does not metion anything about the filled out Warranty card meaning they will honour Warranty.???

Grey Importing Parallel and Grey Imports | Photographic, Digital, Medical, Surveying, Surveillance, Digital Audio. CR Kennedy. Australia

You should e-mail CRK with your converstion with Buymart to confirm what you have been told. Better to be safe than sorry, You've done so much investigating already, only takes one more e-mail to confirm with the actual people involved rather than a seconardy party.

Yeah, I'll do that however the impression I got from Buymart was that *Buymart* pay CR Kennedy to fix the camera

I sent this:

Good afternoon,
I'm hoping you can clarify something for me?
Yesterday and today I've been having an email conversation with an online seller called Buymart.
It didnt take long to realise they are a parallel importer, so I questioned them about warranty.
Below is the conversation. Is it correct? Is there any more information I as a consumer should know?

Cheers,
Jase

Good evening,
I am currently hunting for a K-5, however I am concerned about purchasing
from overseas.
The CR Kennedy (Australia's Pentax supplier and warranty agent) specifically
states that it will not honour warranties WITHOUT a completed International
Warranty Slip (which must be filled out by the seller)
Do your cameras come with said slip?

Cheers,
Jase

Hi Jason,

No, as this is parallel import, hence we provide store local service warranty which is serviced under Pentax AU authorised service dealer.

Thanks

Phillip

Phillip,

Ok - just so I have this right...
It's not a 'Pentax' warranty, but a 'Buymart' warranty - however CR Kennedy (or one of their agents) do the work anyways?

Hi Lurch,

That is absolutely correct, for any warranty repairs it gets fixed with Authorised Pentax AU service dealer under Buymart warranty.

Thanks

Phillip

Ok - thanks mate.
Although it is not an official Pentax Warranty - that doesn't sound too bad.
As long as it is still serviced within Australia (my primary concerns being both cost and downtime with shipping Overseas) that sounds great.

Thank you for clearing that all up.

- Jase

If you purchase a camera from BuyMart, the warranty will not be honoured in Australia.

What price is BuyMart offering you (including shipping)? We'll match any legitamate internet price.
Kind regards,
Robert Kennedy
Director

2 things:
- I've highlighted that line since we've heard the opposite already in this thread. And THAT line come *directly* from the Director.
- I've since replied with Buymarts price and shipping....

The saga continues....

Exactly as I was told by the WA State Manager, they prefer to keep the money in Australia rather than it being spent overseas.

Lurch, Looks as if I have to speak to the organ grinder then and not the monkey, as I have phoned both Perth and Melbourne, to be told the same thing, also from B+H they would not price match.

I should make it abundantly clear that CR Kennedy DO NOT know that I have passed on this info.
So anyone else interested, I would suggest you follow the steps I have taken (which started by simply using the 'Contact Us' section of their website.

Lurch, you did the leg work, you deserve the reward. I think most people should realise that just because one person has negotiated a great deal, it should not necessarily mean that the offer include themselves.

Hi

I live in the neighborhood and drive past CRK (Melbourne) almost every day. Over the years I have been there numerous times about minor camera problems, advise and for a repair on my Metz flash. I usually talk to these guys a fair bit and I know them by name. From that I know that they are regular visitors to this forum and are fully aware of what is going on here.

Greetings

What was the price you stated?

Was it the $1095 + shipping + gst?
