Yes and no.
The 8-14mm rectilinear range is the only one which cannot be served with DFA lenses and so, this would remain a visible gap if not filled soon. And the large APSC flange distance makes 10-16 the closest thing. Otherwise, it's just a rumor

If FF camera will be out, only one new tele-lens will be launched first.

FA31, FA43 and FA77 will be the main lenses for FF camera. (and DFA100 macro )) I think FA LIMITED in new body with WR.
Is it strange? Yes. But new FF lenses will be later.

You can choose yourself - trust me or not.

P.S. 10-16/4 - APS-C IMO not FF

Well, if they wanna go pro, they'll need a (decent) set of f2.8 zooms.

And I'm thinking, oh, an...let me pull some numbers out of somewhere: an...f2.1...137mm Limited.

Remark: It's hard to buy K-7 in Russia now. Some users have been waiting for 2 months.
Only by order. Maybe new upgraded K-7 is close?

It's logical. But...The time will answer. Pentax is very slow in making new high class zoom lenses. Remember DA*60-250.

Yes but the most critical length (24-70/70-200) was rather early filled with the DA* 16-50/50-135

Well, time will tel as you say. I'm prepared to be disappointed

Yes, but that was starting from scratch. The existing models of the FA 80-200 f2.8 and FA 28-70 could certainly be modified slightly with different coatings to work well with digital. Start with a screw driven lens and then transition to a fully sealed ring driven lens? The DA *200 is an example of a simple update of an old design (unlike the 60-250 which was a completely brand new design).

It's hard to imagine that they would introduce that without at least one "kit zoom" option. But I don't think it would take them too much effort to provide a slightly reworked and WRed (and less plastic) version of one of their FF standard zooms. The smc PENTAX-FA 28mm-105mm F3.2-F4.5 AL [IF] hasn't even been discontinued in Japan!

Anyone who has posted arguments for either side, please leave your choice in this thread

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/off-brand-camera-discussion-canon-nikon-e...me-exodus.html

If you`re planning to switch / add new system, please state it in reply, I`m planning to keep track of those of us who are actually bothered.

Couldn't you ask him to be a bit more specific about what "update" means"? Sounds like no new sensor, just some new gimmicks.
Nothing about a "higher" model?
@blende,

I'll ask him more later about the what's in store this summer. Currently i'll be on vacation leaving Malta (Too much work here and i miss my Family).

In summary IMHO, there is 2:1 evidence he mentioned a camera above APS-C.
I agree. He says "Right now our strategic priority is to complete as soon as possible range of Pentax SLR." How can it be complete without an FF.

It seems that the k-x might be both a blessing and a curse to Pentax. On one hand, it gives Pentax the brand recognition to starting photographers. But on the other hand, with a camera with an image quality that performs that well, Pentax would be under the pressure to produce the next flagship camera that would have an image quality that is at least as good as the K-x, and perform better than the K7.

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that the sensor in the Kx is already available in some other cameras, but the Kx manages to extract superior high-ISO performance from it, compared to those other implementations.

So I read this as suggesting that Pentax engineers have gotten better at making use of the data coming from the sensor, which is in turn a very good thing for the entire product line.

D5000 and D90 are not worse than K-x.

They are using the same sensor than K-x, as Alpha 500 and D300...
