Interesting, 1080p & 10 fps. with noise reducing tech. But not a 20mp? And I thought Samsung and Pentax were not going to support each other. I was hoping for a K-(MP)Monster. Anyway to combine the sensors?

10fps is very hard on the mirror box of a dslr. On an EVIL camera that would make much more sense as you don't need to move the mirror.

But perhaps it could make sense as a LV-only feature on a DSLR?

This is the second Very interesting Samsung sensor I have seen recently.
The other is this one.
(K3) New Samsung sensor with global shutter? | k-rumors
So, Could we have a real BIG sensor war for Nikon as a customer?????
Sony VS Samsung.
I hope Nikon Stay with Sony out of loyalty. Despite what most people feel about the K-7 with its "inferior" Samsung sensor, I think that If Samsung could get a decent DR on it, It would be a killer sensor.

Remember what happened last time they increased the read out (K20->K-7). The IQ, at least at high iso, took a small step back.
I hope Pentax can use the upcoming sensor from Sony, expected in a700 mk2 and Nikon D400. Sony seems to be leading the sensor technology for the moment

And what happened to Sony sensors from 6Mpix to 10 Mpix? What makes you think that this new Samsung sensor is exactly the same but with better speed? Nothing. We have absolutely no clue in either direction.

They always predict lower noise for a new sensor, but it could be that they can't really tell until they make the dang thing, and by that time they have a lot of sunk design costs into the product. Like the K7 sensor, it was sold as better, lower noise than the K20, until it wasn't.

I don't think we can blame the sensor company, they are forced into this quick market development and manufacturing cycle. But the fact of life is, until its tested -noone knows for sure on the noise.

Of more interest to me is this new global shutter APS-C CMOS from Samsung:

12.4MP at 8.2fps

Imagine no more mechanical shutters. Silent capture at 8.2fps for EVIL.
And flash sync for ALL shutter speed up to the fastest possible.
And no more wobble on video mode.

Put a sensor like that in a body a step above the Kx in controls, call it the K5, put in a top quality 3" LCD screen which will fold out, and an EV, and watch it blow away the competition.

APS-C, 10,7 fps, etc... Maybe the mystery of that camera "above the K-7" is starting to unveil. If it's true, I guess that this time the full frame supporters will really blow a fuse...

A sensor that can record 10 frames per second would be great but the bottleneck would be the image processing. If the pipe isn't big enough, whatever theoretical or practical transfer rate the sensor can record would not be realized. Besides, how the data stream is processed is just as important as what the sensor records.

Not just 1080p but 1080 60p. Oh, and look at this, it's got a PMS circuit. So can we expect it to be unreliable and irrational once a month? :P
