Anyone hear any rumors about a WR version of the 55-300mm?
I'd really like a WR version of this lens for my K-7.
My local camera shop that carries Pentax (there is still one) and B&H both list the 55-300 as out of stock, so I was hoping that the resupply might be a new version.

Here in Japan they say that is very possible to release the 55-300 WR but not soon, I love that lens and WR version would become my favourite lens, I shoot outdoors mostly.
If any news come out I´ll update.

I just sold my DA 55-300mm to a local buyer; upgrading to a DA* telephoto but would definitely be interested in seeing how well a WR version of the 55-300 would perform (and cost)....

My local store (happens to also be my employer) has a load of these lenses. Of course we bought a raft of them a few months ago in anticipation of fairly short supply. I also happen to know plenty of other dealers who have them. While we can expect some very nice lens introductions over the next quarter or so, don't expect this one to be replaced.

I, for one, would forgo purchasing the da 15 and 70 limiteds that I have been dieing for to grab a 55-300 WR. I don't have a WR lenes right now, but would love one and I don't want another 18-55. The 50-200 doesn't have quite enough reach, either. Anyway, long story short; I would totally get one.

yeah me too! I just got new k-7 and 18-55 wr and really happy! I was gonna buy 50-200 wr but

While a former employee where I work, who had some difficulty adhering to his NDA, has pretty much ruined any real advance information for me, my crystal ball is no fuzzier than any other speculator's. My speculation is we'll see a budget priced normal equivalent prime and a much more rangy zoom as an upgrade from the 18-55.

I asked my magic 8 ball about the 55-33WR and it repeatedly gave me negative answers, but since Canon and Nikon seem to have a perpetual instant rebate on their 70-300 IS or VR lenses that bring the sale price below $400, a new price or the availability of the DA L55-300 as an a la cart option would also be a pretty good guess.

Regardless of who's speculation will be closest to what materializes, you will only need to wait another 120 days or so before we all get to see what's coming.

I need some tele range (longest I have is the M-135, but I sometimes borrow the DA50-200 from my daughter) and the 55-300 has convinced me. A WR version would be just perfect.
