Its better than FA50 1.4 but thats the only good thing to write home about.
It's better than the FA50, but not £200 better than the Sigma 50mm f1.4

For those that want a longer telescopic lens...

DA*200 and DA*300 did not make the list. Seems like Pentax would not be very motivated to make longer primes if they can't sell these well. I don't know the competitors prices from Nikon and Canon, but i don't think the Pentax price is out of whack for this quality. Perhaps with the lack of Pentax TCs and other factors, it doesn't have a reputation with the consumers for long glass any more. I have the DA300 and every once in a while, i'll get a good landscape image out of it. great bokeh too. Perhaps the canikon models don't fare any better in the purchase frequency.

On the other hand, the 60-250 made the list and its not cheap.

It means that DA*200 and DA*300 weren't popular in April.

On other hand, very few people really need DA*300 - it's 450 mm at APS-C.
This lens is not for everyday use. DA*200 is 300 mm at APS-C.
It's rather specific for 99% of users - to use tele prime lenses.

DA55-300 is number 1.

My longest lens for film was 135 mm. For example.

ogl,
I agree with you, I have a Pentax 135 and often have to push myself to use it. 300 is even more of push.

However, i recall a photo magazine writer who was responding to questions:

Question: which is your favorite FL for landscapes

Answer: Something that is longer or wider than what everyone else is using.

Why: I want my images to be different.

Ahhh, the naked truth.

Few of my lenses

I had to look down to number 17 before finding one of my lenses on that list. I must be out of sync with the mainstream.
