I totally agree on DA*55 - people are voting with their money.

Sometimes I`m afraid of offending those who spent their $$$ on it when it just appeared, but seriously, this lens was a miss.

Its better than FA50 1.4 but thats the only good thing to write home about.

In the ongoing lens survey the DA*55mm also looks like a complete dud. Out of nearly 1500 people only 43 own this lens. The lowest for all the lenses (although some others do get quite close).

Seems to me all the K-x buyers located in USA don't need any extra brand new Pentax made glass.

As of this hour, the only Pentax lens in the Amazon 100 list is the FA 50 F1.4 for $360 about. I think that tells us that Pentax land needs a few inexpensive quality lenses to get the new buyers into the market place.

Saw a pancake lens from Olympus and another one from Panasonic for their micro cameras on this list.

Have to note the prescence of the UWA that we all love to hate on the Amazon list, the Sigma 10-20 F4 (old version) is on this list for the canon people, and a second Sigma 10-20 is on this list for the Nikon version. I hate my 10-20 F4 so much that i won't even bother to get rid of it. :-)

Thanks for the list ogl for the Pentax list and the Amazon note from Samsungian. I wish there was another list that would show the relative numbers of Pentax lenses sold versus 3rd party lenses for Pentax. Now that would be interesting.

thats an interesting list. this is the top 4 i got from the list for April... maybe its been updated or something...

true. the old k and screw mount lenses are quite nice. or so i was told the kit lenses are too good and that pentax needs to dumb them down a little once the camera sales go up.

Or it says that Pentax needs to make it above 5% market share in the interchangeable lens camera market before comparing lens sales to other, much more popular brands. You can't expect them to sell a ton of lenses if they aren't selling, and haven't sold, a ton of cameras lately.

I see DA LIMITED are very POPULAR.
2 wide-angle and 2 normal lenses are in TOP10.

I see that users buy cheap portrait lens - FA50/1.4, cheap tele-zoom - 55-300,
and DA35 and DA40 as universal lenses. It is logical.

And big jump of new DFA100 macro. WR, sharp and retro body. I understand.

the top lenses for amazing are ALL BORING lenses , slow zooms and the canon 50 1.8 that is really all about the price and nothing more.

it has nothing to do with pentax, pentax has more unique glass, and this is why I've chosen pentax to begin with.

I dont have the K-7 or the DA Ltd BC I bought my K20D a year before and I am still holding my self, but this is one of the most beautiful unique kits available today

K-7 21mm , 35mm or 40m , 70mm !!! amazing kit

instead I bought my K20D , with the 31mm 1.8, 20mm 2.8, 50mm 1.7 , 77mm 1.8 , and 100mm WR and still my camera bag is smaller and lighter and with better quality then all of my friends with the huge Canonikon Glass


BTW the new 100mm is a piece of pure genius, such a tiny brilliant lens !!

Mmm what about AF with this lens? There's no focussing limiter AFAIK so isn't the AF a bit slow? What about using it as portrait lens? (although my 50-135 is a gem for that IMO).
