This "L" is only the Lumix Sign/Symbol.
In beginning of that Cameraline,it was the Symbol for the Leica/Panasonic cooperation.
So i have learned in the Panasonic Training 2001 or 2002.

Definitely ;P, Oh wells... wished there was some awesome story behind this though... but nope ;/. Example... that actually the MZ-L was produced for Germany where Leica was and for a limited time Leica made a special K mount series just for the MZ-L. Later though, when Leica partnered up with Panasonic, Leica used their own portion of the MZ-L design to help design a fitting body for their lenses with Panasonic, and that is why they used the L, to rub it in Pentax's face that other P companies can use [L] too.
