Ogl, whatever you think of FF necessity for Pentax, Pentax/Hoya have another opinion.
My cons:
1. Smaller pixel = worse and bad-balanced colours.
2. 21 MP at APS-C means diffraction at f/6.3.
3. I'm happy with 10 MP. No need to buy someting not FF with MP higher than 14.6 MP.
4. 21 MP means - no per-pixel sharpness.
5. I doubt that 21 MP sensor will be without AA filter.
6. Good, detailed and clean pictures of ISO800-3200 from 21 MP APS-C camera is the miracle.

IMHO, no one needs to prove that they are a great photographer to post here.

I'm sure that Pentax (nor any other manufacturer) doesn't require their customers to deliver breathtaking pictures either.
On the other hand, many posters here seem to require Pentax to deliver breathtaking cameras.

But I've said it before: no FF this year or next year = bye Pentax

Yes. I will use K200D to the death of this machine. And then - it's time to buy something another.

I've sold all my lenses already now and keep only FA*24/2, FA43 and FA77.

If 21 MP will be not traditional Bayer sensor, but something 2-layers like SuperCCD or SuperCMOS version = 10.5+10.5 MP...It is interesting.
But dull 21 MP at common APS-C...No. Thank you.

What's this obsession with diffraction?

A 2MP sensor isn't affected by diffraction until f/22. It must be the best choice then, right?

I don't want to buy "air" MP. 14.6 MP is optimal.
I had a lot of RAW from 7D.
Soft images - even with good lenses, with worse lenses - SOAPY images, not good-balanced colours, rather narrow DR.

No. Thank you.

I'm putting dibs on your FA* 85/1.4 and FA 77/1.8.

I meant 2MP ("two megapixels"). With a sensor of this resolution, you won't have any diffraction problems until f/22. No "diffraction", but no resolution either.

Diffraction is always there and I don't see the point of wanting a sensor that doesn't resolve enough to see it for a certain aperture-ratio.

2 MP is very small images to look and to print.

I heard from my local camera store that sony were making a new sensor with randomized pixels. Utilising a CFA using Luminance, red, green, blue pixels dispersed in randomised patterns on multiple layers similar to Sigma's Foveon sensor technology. The idea came to sony's lead CCD designer when he observed the holes in a piece of Swiss cheese that fell out of his salad bagel. The R&D Department said " we will put it in a mirror-less camera similar to the Nex-5". A mirror like Reflective coating will be placed on the rear LCD so girls can check their make-up before they take a pictures - this idea was spawned when the Lead camera designer saw his daughters Facebook profile pics where she had obviously confused her lipgloss with mascara"

If any of you guys have seen some of the forums on DPR, you should know it is very easy to get carried away with the rumour mill. My personal philosophy is : I'll believe it when I see it.

I want a 21Mp aps-c as long as the rest of the sensors qualities are up to par with the competition. The diffraction limit is a non issue, trying to avoid it by using a low resolution sensor makes no sense at all.

Onу more victim of marketing.
10-15 MP is not low resolution sensor for APS-C size.

Or maybe you are a victim of the bigger-pixel-is-better-myth?

Exactly my point. But you'll have to put up with that size if you don't want to see diffraction below f/22.

There are lenses that peak at f/4 so there is no reason not to exploit their resolution with a correspondingly high-resolving sensor.

There are good reasons to keep sensor resolution at a certain maximum but noise or diffraction problems do not belong to the good reasons.

I do birding and I find 10/12 mpixels to be "enought" but perfection is at 15 mp (k20 and k7) since I have room for a small adjustment crop.

I do print images at 40*60 cm with perfect results!

Take it on a good mood ... -> can I be first in line for some of your lens ?
