PMA Australia speaks of a 21MP Pentax!

Some guy named justin23(dpreview) claims he overheard the CRK rep mention a K20D replacement sporting 21 megapixels slated to be announced at photokina!

thread in question...

How richly bizarre...

That fits in with the report of the model above the K-7 and between the 645D.

Sounds reasonable. No bizarre fantasies yet. I wonder if one (Sony, most likely) would dare to push APS-C beyond 18.

You know, even if i was not wanting or expecting "the one" ever , i'm getting really excited and even having good thoughts that i sold 70Ltd for F50.

21 MP at APS-C - is the death of photography. 21 MP at FF is good.

P.S.
I hate pictures from 7D.

P.P.S. There was rumor that Canon'd offered FF sensor to Hoya.

Surely there must be something more important than more mega pixels.

If it's true, its a good chance for it to be a full frame.

Alright guys, we've already got a lot of talent in this thread. We've got a rumor somebody says they heard, a large spec number, and somebody just mentioned full frame. Let's take this thread to 1,000!!!

Most Pentax Reps won't be told about upcoming models until their imminent release, let alone some retailers' rep. He/She probably read it from the web - seriously!

CR Kennedy in Australia has a fairly tight and close relationship with Pentax so are very much in the know.

21mp FF would be nice indeed but it contradicts my own (very indirect) sources. Go figure....
As for the 7D pictures, of course those are Canons pictures...

I'd be surprised if Canon gave a sensor to Hoya, even good money being thrown in. We'll see.

I completely agree Ogl on all points. In fact I know 2 7D shooters that sold their cameras after 3 months. Soft looking IQ.

I sure hope we DON'T see 21MP in APS-c.

Why not? K20D body could be big enough to house a FF sensor. Pentax knows a lot of people liked that body size/shape/style. So why not upgrade from the current models to a K20D style body with a FF 21MP sensor?

it would be a pretty hot line.
K-x best entry level camera around
K-7 top notch Semi pro
K-8 FF
645D best, price, value, features, IQ etc MF in the industry.
