Is this the thread where I can order my custom-built, one-off Pentax? I'll have a WR EVIL please, hold the pickles.

Everyone keeps saying this. But the only thing the K-x sensor does better than the K-7 is high ISO. K-7 sensor has better contrast, better color, better sharpness, better video quality. At ISO 100-400, the K-x sensor looks like garbage compared to K-7 sensor.

see it similar.
noise is not all.
Apart of that,i don´t like any aps-c cams,if used at 3200asa.
My K-7 is till 2500asa and RAW in the same range as well as the comparable bodys.
Most important,NO chrominance nois, only colorless luminance noise.
But,4 eyes,4 opinions

noise regards,andy

IMHO Kx sensor would be a huge mistake. Sony has a couple of new sensors coming out that should be pretty impressive. Of course those sensors will not be cheap, and Pentax may decide to go with an older sensor to save money and sell at a lower price.

The new Samsung senor looks promising, and Pentax may be better off buying from Samsung.

most of my shots are done from ISO 100/200 - 400, sometimes if the demand calls for it, I shoot at ISO 800, and very rarely use ISO 1600, much more so at ISO 3200 which is the limit for acceptable images. if High ISO from 1600 or 3200 to 6,400 is as good as the images shot at ISO 200, then it's a great sensor. if it's merely having a slightly much better HIGH ISO, then I'd be better off doing some PP NR work. although I would still prefer and need a fullframe.

All I said was it "look interesting". I did not say Pentax was going to use it.

Really? lol

I found the K-7 just too small to be comfortable, I use it all the time with the grip. I've held a Canon 1Ds and yes it's big but it's comfortable.

But from a psychological point of view a big Pro Pentax camera may strike fear into the Canikonites
Agreed.

And if it's a FULL pro body, expect it to be similar in size to other pro bodies from competitors.

This could mean anything as large as a D700 to something even bigger like a D3/D3s (or in the realm of the EOS 7D/5DII to EOS 1D/1Ds, if you want to compare to Canon instead).

Otherwise, the other specs are quite realistic.

Probably APS-C with around 15 Mpix, but who knows? Maybe Pentax will dare to offer 3 sensor formats (APS-C, 645D and FF)?

the K-X sensor has better dynamic range through out the entire ISO range

more DR, better photo, end of story

you can manipulate contrast, colour, sharpness

you cannot create dynamic range where there is none, unless you shoot HDR, but HDR can only work under specific conditions
