Do either of you know if Pentax is still offering the extended warranty on the K-7for free? I believe it was for an additional 2 years, if you merely called customer service. I remember reading about this and I am still trying to find these posts..but no luck so far. So I just wondered if this was still available or if I should consider purchasing the B&H warranty. Any one have advice on this? Thx.

AFAIK, as long as you buy it from a authorized vendor, pentax will give you the 3 year warranty.

just call their customer service.

Live preview? K7 has that.

Noise reduction? K7 can turn that off.

I don't know where you got your information, but the K7 does both of these things... Of course, when one doesn't own something it's easy to have incomplete info.

For the first item - you're right.

For the second item - Everything I have seen is that the K-7 does forced auto-DFS on long exposures regardless of menu settings, just like every other Pentax since the (and including) the K20D.

I still need to go back to my K10D for fireworks photography.

I am hoping you are right! It is just about the right time for the last price dip to occur before the next model is announced/released (which happens pretty consistently about 6 months before a new model). While I wasn't enamored with upgrading from the K20d to the K-7, I am hoping that a sensor on par with the K-x for low light makes it into the next high end camera (in terms of performance; I don't necessarily expect the same sensor).

The deals on the K-7 are looking pretty good these days too!
