Same here. Price differentials US to Can are too good to pass up, and when the dollar was at par....well, even now with a ~$0.95 dollar, the deals are great.

And don't forget, Camera equipment is not subject to import duty under NAFTA so you won't get dinged at customs. I've imported a K10D, K20D, DA* lenses, and never had to pay duties. I just pulled the trigger on a K-7 from the US for $695 (private sale NIB), couldn't pass it up.

I can't imagine not buying a K-7 from my favorite B&H on June 24th 2010, assuming B&H drop their website price on K-7 to match Willoughby's well advertised " Pentax usa sponsored special".

$598 makes perfect sense to me to add a K-7 to my K20D. I've hessitated at $763... $598 is a No Brainer

Not that I didn't assume k-7 would drop to low $600s. Isn't June 24th the 14th month & 4th day since K-7 announced ?

$598 K-7 on 6-24-10 is better price than $763 today, 6-18-10 ???

I just bought a K-7 a month ago for $863 but at a price of $598 I'm badly tempted to buy another one.

"Pentax USA sponsored special" - interesting. I wasn't paying attention back then, but does anyone recall if there was a publicized fever to dump inventory of the K20D pre-K7? Or did the K7 just materialize?

To me this suggests the K7's successor is not only imminent, but will include a list of specifications obliterating our current gem. Certainly more than the meager yet noteworthy enhancements expressed in the conservative evolution from K20D to K7. Enough that Pentax is willing to put a hiatus on K-x sales for some short window. But who am I other than a man in bathrobe and slippers sitting at the dining room table with a coffee and laptop?

That's an impressive price for sure. Maybe July or August will have a new pro body from Pentax in store?

AFAIK B&H will match that price once the time comes.

Appears it only applies to the NYC store between 12-2PM, and you must bring in a camera for a $300 credit. Not an online deal, and probaby will not be honored by B&H.

Here's my understanding. Bringing a camera across the border, whether you bring it with you when you return from the US, or whether you buy it online and have it shipped, it is not subject to import duties at all. Doesn't matter if you were in the US for 24 hours, 3 months, or never.

I have two people I work with that are CBSA BSO's and I'll ask them next time I see them where the exact rules are that they use to determine what goods can be imported under NAFTA.

But - from my experience, both bringing my first K10D across the land border with me and telling the BSO I had it with me purchased in the US, to importing a K20D and a couple of DA* lenses, I've NEVER had to pay import duties.

I've got a K-7 enroute from the US (EMI) and I'll see if there's any duties, but I'm not expecting any.

Amazon has a $760 price just like BandH and it says it is with a manufacturers $100 instant savings. On another note, it is not listed as in stock at Amazon and states it ships in 1-3 weeks. A sign they are getting low in stock at Pentax?

Interesting. Just minutes after searching Amazon for the K-7 and finding it through them with a 1-3 weeks ship time, now when I search, it only brings up the one available from a 3rd party seller on their site, JR Music World. You can actually no longer find the K-7 sold by Amazon. The only way I got the link back was in my browsing history:

There's nothing meager from K20 to K7, nothing meager at all. Quite the opposite, although it may not suit everyone (that's totally different problem).
