Use the 'search' function to look for threads about 'DxO Optics'. You can also explore DxO's online presentation pages.
DxO is a very useful piece of software. It employs a process called 'deconvolution' to greatly improve the overall quality of photos. (From Wikipedia: "In optics and imaging, the term "deconvolution" is specifically used to refer to the process of reversing the optical distortion that takes place in an optical microscope, electron microscope, telescope, or other imaging instrument, thus creating clearer images.") In addition, it automatically deals with vignetting, distortion, CA... But what I particularly like about it is its capacity to allow one to create various settings that combine exposure compensation and a special 'lighting' effect. The software's amazing results owe a lot to the fact that DxO works with individualized combos of camera bodies and lenses (modules) such as the ones posted above.

Perhaps they just have some trouble with the composition adjustment feature - it could ruin their efforts to compensate for lens characteristics.

I own Lightroom 2.4 (not yet upgraded to 3) and DXO 6.

For library managment, lightroom is far superior. For RAW developement, I perfer DXO 6 for critical work (usually when I print) as I find the result from DXO to look better. That is said nearly none of my lenses are supported (FA &DA ltd) I would have find it useful for chromatic aberation teatment which is far superior than in Lightroom 2.

That said, first feedbacks about lightroom 3 say that the RAW development is vastly improved.

All in all, I would say that, as a Pentax user, you shall buy Lightroom 3 first. If you were using Nikon or Canon, the answer would be sightly different however as much more lens / body combinaison are available.

I agree with causey. DXO is a great piece of software. I hope they do well and I encourage people to check the product out.

It already has a pretty good level of Pentax support, I must admit, especially with the K20, K-7 and the K200D. Hopefully in 2010 the K-x will enter the picture though, along with yet more lenses.

DxO has minimal interest in Pentax and will not devote significant resources into developing correction modules for Pentax lenses and bodies. The K-7 is quite possibly the last Pentax camera that they will ever support, and this latest release does not include any new lens modules for it. The K-x, Pentax's most successful DSLR ever, is completely unsupported by DxO, while virtually every other raw converter on the market covers it.

Pentax owners who continue to place their hopes in DxO are in a state of denial. My advice to them is to find another raw converter and move on. There are better programs available, and I say that as a former DxO user and fan.
