Methinks a new DFA 50mm f/2.8 Macro WR, a new 135mm AF and possibly a new 28mm AF.

If they are going to make a 135mm it needs to be an f/2 or f/1.8. The Sony 135mm f/1.8 is an outstanding lens even on a FF A900. Pentax should be able to build a 135mm for an APS-C that can compete.

If they elect to go with the slower f/2.8 then I hope they push it up to a 150mm f/.2.8. The Sigma 150mm f/2.8 is a very sharp lens and not available in a Pentax mount.

Personally, I'm trying to keep an open mind. I certainly hope Pentax will begin plugging the many holes in its lens lineup with announcements at Photokina this year. But if they continue the same silence we've been getting for the past two years then my K200D may be my last Pentax body. As dankoBanana said, some new bodies may be exciting but I'm looking for lenses. Pentax, please don't disappoint us.

My own personal wish list? WR for the entire DA range, a zoom that goes out longer than 300mm for less then $700 (can be variable aperture), and a few fast and affordable primes. Start with something in the the 28-35mm range. Fast to me means f/2.0 or faster. Affordable to me means $500 or less. I don't think I'm asking for too much.

There is definately a missing lens here - and many have noted its desirability. I have the FA 135mm f2.8 - and I really wonder how so many people get by without a modern classic 200mm focal length lens with AF. This is such an important FL for me. The FA 135mm f2.8 is an awesome lens - and really, it shouldn't be that hard to re-issue...? or am I missing something? Since 135mm = classic 200mm (in aps-c land), if Pentax are serious about sticking with aps-c - it is puzzling why a 135mm hasn't been released earlier. For this reason, I imagine a 150mm f2.8 is unlikely. Then again, we are all so starved for information (any information) - who knows what Pentax has planned for us?

I really hope Pentax release more lenses like the 100mm D-FA macro WR. If FF is coming... (and it is)... (even if it is 2+ years down the track)... it makes sense to start building the lineup now. NOW. You listening Pentax?

Except the prices. Half the people on this forum want cheaper lenses. The other half want the most expensive AF glass one cold possibly design. Pentax can't win.

Then everyone wants super-fast glass, which most prods don't use. Which cost a fortune. Which inevitably have softness below f/2.8. And for which there is no end of grief. That's likely why most glass is being designed around the f/2.8 sweet spot so that right from wide open, it's sharp, rather than criticized.

Perhaps the WR would keep some of the dust off the interior elements or from entering the mirror box. There are some absolutely lovely zooms to 400 on the market that are not weather sealed, and the headache they cause me (as a retailer) from customers who complain about dust getting inside their lenses almost makes the lenses not worth carrying. There are other zooms to 400 that are sealed up and I never get complaints about dust issues.

The bigger issue with a lens like this is size and price. Canon's 100-400L IS USM, Nikon's 80-400VR and Sony's 70-400G SSM are nothing short of amazing lenses, but the entry point on one of these lenses is $1500 and 1500 grams. Anyone who thinks the DA*60-250 SDM is a big lens will think again after comparing it with the giants that zoom to 400.

The 135mm Sony is very sharp at f/1.8 and the Canon 135L is very good at F/2. Neither of those lenses are exceptionally expensive. They are both moderately priced at @$1,000-$1,200. They are lengths that a lot of working pros use and can justify the cost. On and APS-C you have a fast 200mm prime which is a very popular focal length.

I would like to see Pentax roll out an 85mm f/1.4 (update the old lens) and a D-FA* 135mm f/1.8. It appears Sigma is ahead of Pentax with the new 85mm f/1.4 which if it preforms as expected will be a very good lens, and with a better HSM motor.

I hope Pentax eventually brings out a DFA 600F4 WR or a DFA 400F2.8 WR, but I have my doubts.

My intentions are honorable and I do not intend what it may sound like - not intending to go down the body argument...

My viewpoint is from this point on out, Pentax in its lens announcements - will essentially be unveiling to a large degree, its overall body plan and path forward for the APS-C and what ever else they plan to support (other than the 645D). The K7 kit lenses came with WR is certainly a path (although the KX kits did not). Also, earlier in the year the FDA 100mm f2.8 Macro WR arrived. So, I believe that the WR capability will probably be firmly affixed for everything but the entry level kit lenses. I also think that this is a great marketing plan along with a wonder nitch for Pentax to occupy.

The next question for me is DA or FDA (or D FA, or however they wish to arrange the anagram). I am thinking that since the FA 31/43/77 Ltd (appear to be in long term back ordering) that maybe they are headed out. Since there really has not been anything new in the DA line, that they too may be at the end of the line. With the new D FA 100 that may be the beginnings of a new combined line. I am just trying to make sense of the tea leaves here.

What the focal lengths and apertures may be and announced in what order, along with what is "*"ed or Limiteded, along with what is SDMed or not - you all are better at that than I am. The lenses I currently have - are the ones I use and I like (a lot) - all screw drive and work for me very well.

Do I know anything for sure. Nope - other than it was something north of 111 degrees out today and I may be suffering from heat stroke. We "Zonies" have been know to see mirages out in the desert heat....
