This is just the usual argument for keeping this myth alive, it doesn't prove anything. With this kind of logic, Peugeot is the owner of both Toyota and Mitsubishi, and every manufacturer of washing machines owns every other manufacturer of washing machines.

Actually I can vouch for Zack/Andy on this one, if anyone knows then he would.

I believe this:
Kenko International

and it doesn't mention Hoya among the main shareholders.

Zack, I have no other information than what I've read from the companies' web sites. Japanese corporate culture is strange, but I still would be surprised if a public company like Hoya keeps their ownership in other companies secret.

Then why have Tokina and Pentax been working less together, rather than more over the last couple of years? Whether they are part of the same working group, they act like separate companies, mostly with Pentax licensing lenses to Tokina.

Isn't the write-up on Tokina at Wikipedia pretty clear about the relationship between the companies?

I still think that there is something not quite correct on your assumption with tokina hoya and Kenko,
Their international branch is a separate company to all thee of these. THK (TokinaHoyaKenko). They are like a massive middleman. its main aim is to save money for all three companies. cheaper marketing, distribution, servicing. The big confusion comes with the Pentax co-ownership of optical formulas with tokina, they are all before Pentax was owned by hoya.
If you deal with Hoya and Tokina daily, then please confirm that you actually deal with THK, which is different. its a joint venture, it confirms that the companies are very close, but they are not all owned by the same people. THK is like a carpool.
