We can leave our opinion of Lori Gunn and her peers out of the discussion.

Every positive mention drives ordinary consumers, particularly first-time DLSR buyers, to Pentax.

I agree, but it is amusing that they mention "class leading k-x" twice, yet when you read their k-x review, it is somewhat ...er...underwhelming.

Yes, well, you're right. And inconsistancy is something that CNET does very well .... consistently.

KX has an amazing sensor, but a bad focus system.

CNET reviews tend to be more informed than Wired Reviews however.

Mention of Pentax as class leading to people who only use CNET is a very good thing.

There's a difference between a camera review and a gadget review. CNET sees this and tries. As hard as their little photo budget allows. With the uneven results we enjoy. Or something.

The list of "tech" sites like "Wired" that do gadget reviews is endless. I only read them to remind myself that very smart and capable people can be hopelessly incompetent in tangential subjects, often without realizing it.

Because I'm not particularly bright in any area, it's a good lesson for me in humility. I need it.

CNET's reviews in general still suck, regardless of what a fanboy needs to keep his purchasing decisions assuaged from what they wrote in this "review".
