645D Power Zoom Lenses?

The Japanese Pentax site pictures a water proof remote control for the 645D allowing for zooming in addition to shutter release. That can only mean that Pentax is tinkering with power zoom lenses for the 645D!

I think the zoom function is meant for p&s cameras, not really for dSLR cameras including 645D.

This RT could be used for any Pentax cameras which work with RT, I think

Yes, this is just another IR remote control for Pentax cameras, not only for 645D.
This zoom is for P&S cameras.

Also I don't think Pentax will produce more than one lens for 645D in nearest future. That will be extra-wide angle prime (~24-30mm). There is no need to invent new lens, cause old ones are already excellent and are produced.

According to a Pentax Marketing representative, interviewed durign the "Salon de la HD" in June, 3 new lenses are to be launched in "after launch" (he said around 2011) link

Given the extreme care of Hoya/Pentax recent communication, I think this can be considered as reliable information.

I suppose power-zoom would make more sense for lenses as large as 645 ones. For 35mm it never seemed that pointful - the basic features anyway.

Not even new news. A message from februari puts it with the waterproof Optio W90, wich makes more sence then linking it to 645D.

Don't be absurd, power zoom on 645D? A Professional Medium format DSLR with 40MP sensor being marketed for people who are too lazy to turn a zoom ring?

I think that extra button on the Ir remote would only have effect on image magnification in image review or magnification in live view for DSLR cameras, or as some one posted earlier, the button is for control over the zoom for P&S users. Pentax never came out with 645 lenses with power zoom, in all probability it would make the lenses substantially larger than they already are. Besides with Pentax's history of SDM burnout, moving the large lens elements in 645 zoom lenses would be taxing even for ring usm.
