Pentax User magazine to cease publication

I got an email Tuesday stating that the Pentax User magazine will cease publication. The website will continue.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Pentax User magazine to cease publication

Dear visitor,

It is with regret that, due to market conditions, we have had to make the very difficult decision to cease publication of the Pentax User magazine. The next issue (Issue 4, 2010) will be our last. However, the website will still fully operate and other club member benefits such as shop offers, discount camera repairs and special photographer's insurance will continue. We have some exciting plans to improve the site for 2011 and beyond - and urge you to get involved; www.pentaxuser.co.uk

Seems to be a relatively low usage forum compared to this one.
Cheers, Pickles.

And I think there in lies the explanation!

I knew the magazine existed but never actually subscribed.

This is not a magazine site.

It came out quarterly and was .75 pounds shipped in the UK. However, there site is a PITA for those outside the UK and I think therein lies the real reason there subscriptions were low.

You can torrent the entire set of these magazines by searching for "Pentax User Magazines" - I didn't have all the issues so it was fantastic to find this resource. It is 1.32 GB and as of today, it is being seeded.

The article clearly states that the next article, dated 2010, will be their last.

Thus, this is incredibly old news and is another useless thread made up to present something old as something new.

EDIT: Oh, now I am the person who cannot read. The thread was made up in 2010, it was just recently Necro-bumped by Pentax Mz.

You seem a little cranky.

I replied to this very old thread as an FYI... just in case some members might be interested to know that all the issues are currently available (as PDF) through a bit torrent (and only for a limited time).

Despite the last issue being from October 2010, it is still quite relevant with its articles and how-to's. This U.K. publication might be a great resource, especial for those who didn't even know that it existed.

And thank you for the post. Could have gone in a new thread instead of a dead one, but whatever. Thanks for the heads up. Now if I had any idea what a 'torrent' was.................

If you are interested in obtaining the issues, the easiest to use torrent program is Vuze - for Windows (Vuze: The most powerful bittorrent app on earth.) or uTorrent for Mac (µTorrent - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client). Once installed and configured, search for "Pentax User Magazines".

What is a Bit Torrent? Basically, another form of Peer to Peer file sharing used by both legitimate sources and regular people to share legitimate files and not-so-legitimate files; as such, standard warnings (viruses, piracy, etc.) apply. Careful what you use it for and careful what you download and/or share.
