You have a 28/2. It's called the 31 Ltd.
And I have the FA24/2. But the point would be to make them something like the DA*55 is. Or to make it cheap and shut nikonians mouth raving about their AF35/1,8 DX lens.

I'm new to this forum and I couldn't help but jump in on this thread.

I'm always looking for top end glass to shoot with. I've been a pentax user since 1978 and switched to digital in 2005 with an Ist DS. Great starter. Since then I've gone through a number of bodies and now use 2 K20Ds.

But to talk lens' I think you are all right when you say Pentax needs to step up. They spent many, many years producing great lenses including the now out of production (since 2004) 70-200 f2.8. Since it was gone I recently purchased the Sigma version for around 1200 cdn (a steal for a full frame professional lens).

Since the purchase I've done 4 major shoots averaging 750 - 850 frames each. Thouroghly impressed and confident with the combo.

My lens range starts at the 10-17 fisheye to the current 70-200. I am looking at the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 HSM for the next filler since the last Sigma has worked out so well.

Does anyone have any opinions/experience with that one?

It is not a joke. I'm pretty sure only few people would buy it.
Most users are either happy with Da*50-135, DA*60-250 or bought alternative 70-200 from other manufacturer.
There are other lenses that could make greater impact, like a compact fast prime (24/2 , 28/2?).
I don't have any of those so I'd buy 70-200/2.8

Those who never tried the 50-135 do not know what they are talking about (that's brutal but so true), unfortunately... so slow to focus But what a gem

So true. My 50-135 is my go-to event/candid lens, and is beautifully balanced on my K20D + grip + AF540FGz. I tried a sigma 70-200 but it's to long at the short end and too cumbersome. And the IQ lagged that of the Pentax.

My zoom range now includes 16-50/2.8, 50-135/2.8 and 100-300/4
