Right and in my previous post I also mentioned that the 50D used to retail at the prices the 7D are at now. The only reason that the 50D is in that range now is because it's closing in on a two year old design.

50D in Aug 2008 was 1400 (mileage may vary) body only. Just under 200 shy of the 7Ds current body only offering.

Let's not forget you missed that the Rebels occupy the 400-900 range, the T2i is 850 body only. On a good day 800.

I'm not disagreeing with you in that mid tier market, it's huge. However I still believe that the 7D is falling fast enough that it can slide in. Hell they could push the 50D another six months if they needed to.

I get the feeling the market is changing in regards to price points. The A850 is offering a lot at under $2000. I think you will see a sub $750.00 segment, a +/- $1,000 segment and a +/-$1,500 segment.

K-x, K-7 (super), Mystery Model
Sony however needs 6 models since they are special, and that does not include the discontinued A700.

4 bodies makes it a little harder to spread the price points out and keep models different enough. I think you have to update on a 12 month schedule to keep prices constant.

Since the K-7 is getting cheaper and cheaper, I really do not see how a K-mystery can get a slot from a price point of view. Spill more beans pls

You maybe onto something. I may not want the next camera to be a must-have so that I won't be attempted to buy it before getting that 645D. I think that is very true.


But, if faster ffp, faster AF, and less noisy sensor, even if it was FF, I will not have any hard time passing it on.
