Es tut mir leid, aber, Ich Spreche nur wenig deutsch
(I am sorry I only speak a little German)

What does Blasenentzundun mean? I get that it means something to do with Blisters!!!

I think that the word has something to do with bladder infection or something like that. No comments about how did I come to know something like that (but it doesnt involve myself in a travel around Austria and a pharmaceutical clerk giving me some medication that I did not order...)

It was only a little of surrealistic humor

There was a meeting, but not a press conference!
Pentax met with the major dealers (?) on the QM 2 in Hamburg: meal, presentation etc.
They have been seen by at least one person in Hamburg (large Pentax bags etc...).
But so far no news.
Perhpas there was nothing thrilling, or there is an embargo date?
Who knows ...

Up-To-The-Minute Trade Show Info

The IFA Consumer Trade Show will open in about 30 minutes (10 AM Berlin time, currently CEST UTC/GMT +2). Only the reception hall is open at the moment, not the main floors, so there is no information available yet. I will not be providing anything further, so if you'd like to keep up with the latest news, the following website provides fairly up-to-the-moment information...

IFA 2007 Report

Scroll to the bottom of the page to find "News By Brand" and select "Pentax." The site is only cycling through older press releases at the moment, not news about the trade show itself. News from the main floors should start appearing, according to the website, two to three hours after the show opens.

Notes: Don't forget to refresh the web page in your browser occasionally to see any changes. Also, for PC users, no need to install the "MSXML 5.0" addon from Microsoft (your preference).

And new Optios of course

I would be surprised if they show something new before Paris. If I were them I would use my most famous-ubiquotous pro-photographer to show to the kind people of the press what the new cameras/lenses are able to do. Moreover, dont you think that Benjikan would have save some energy in advertising the Paris meeting if the new gear were going to be presented in Berlin?

An SMS I just got from a mate indicates that the Pentax booth in Berlin is very small and that the people inside do not seem to know much about any new products. They haven't even got information on the new Optios...

Good thing I didn't go to Berlin... But I will be going to Paris!

It seems my wait for the news regarding a new release is kind of in vain. Would be so keen to take a new model for another trip later on in the year.

One of the weakness of k10d is its inability to rescue shadow colours that well. Photoshop would bring back "fake" colour instead.

Oh man.. haha thats terrible. Anyhow it is a US WalMart exclusive so it can be understandable if it was just a low-key promotional thing.

It doesn't seem like Pentax put alot of work into those cams. A recycled Optio and a Pentax folded optics zoom camera. (the same lens seen in the Casio EX-v7 and Samsung L77). Probably why the Pentax Germany rep didn't even hear about it.

Haha

I'm here, trying to save up money for a second K10D body, and here we have those impatiently waiting for the next fix. :-P

Relax guys, it'll come, but when it's time. I don't think Pentax will ever release any significant product around the same time as Canon and Nikon, will the wider industry even notice Pentax's announcement amidst the *full-frame* Nikons and *machine-gun* 10 FPS self-cleaning Canons?

Sure they'll get noticed, but the effect Pentax hopes to make with announcing something nice will be almost nullified. Muffled.

Go out and shoot something. :-)

cheers,
-Asad
