I'd call it K*

The old schoolers can call it K-ist, or make it sound like "kissed"

The new schoolers can say it so that it sounds like "K-star"

Why would anyone?

You didn't confirm that the K-5 will be bigger than the K-7 which means it will again be too small to hold and too big to fit into a pocket. (Just kidding, but I really wish a future Pentax model would be slightly bigger than the K-7).

Gotta agree there!

I find the K-7 too uncomfortable to hold for long periods without the battery grip.

In that sense I like the size of the Nikon D90 even without the grip its a good size and the Canon 5D.

However when it comes to ergonomics I still prefer the K-7 layout.

I don't mind all the hype on Pentax's new cameras hopefully this year.

I just HOPE that Pentax will release the k-5 with HD video capabilities of that of Canon's T2i, 7D. 5D Mark II, I won't get into because that's FF.

Following rumors of new cameras can be a drug. Just don't get lost in the K-hole

By design. You want more, you pay more. More revenue for Pentax, and they can make a camera for smaller hands and still enable larger hands.

And I've got to disagree. I'm above average height (6'1") with large hands, and I find the K-7 exceptionally comfortable either with or without the grip -- not only compared to compact SLRs, but even compared to pro models. I wouldn't want one ounce of unnecessary weight, nor any extra volume added to it, unless it was to bring useful new features. If you ask me, the trim body of the K-7 is one of its biggest selling points -- you essentially get semi-pro DSLR build quality and feature set in a form factor that's just as portable as most consumer DSLRs, if not more so.
