i hope those are production models and you are shooting for possible use in the upcoming promotional campaign. low-noise 18mp with k7 rivaling ergonomics - and better af - would blow this crowd through the roof.

Well, you'd want any new Pentax 18MP sensor to be way better than the one in the 7D.

Canon's 18MP sensor isn't much chop on any measure.
Thanks for the screen shot from DxO mark. I wonder, why the overall grade got so much better for the Kx. When the general numbers indicate them to be about even

I had a dream that I witnessed a helper engine crash into a train, and that the people in the helper engine were Bluto, Popeye and Olive Oyl.

Later in that same dream, Christopher Lloyd was stuck going the wrong way on an 8-lane 1-way street.

I hate when I get that dream, and the one when you're sitting in your underwear waiting to give your High School presentation...

dxomark.com has more information about how they calculate their overall score, but in general each area of sensor quality has a equal rating as it goes into the final score calculation. Almost 1 EV for dynamic range isn't marginal, though, although the 22 vs 22.8 difference in color depth is.

It is worth noting too that the K-x's overall 71.9 score also exceeds that of the Nikon D300s (69.8), so the 7D isn't the only APS-C heavy-hitter to be outranked by the K-x.

Haha sounds too crazy, but what a move would it be. Everyone would be happy ( except the companies I guess )

However, I believe the electrical coupling of KAF lenses is patented and not an open information, so Nikon / Canon would not be able to.

I`m seriously considering getting myself a used Canon 5D mk.1 and subjecting it to mirror surgery. This would give me an manual focus only FF K mount DSLR, at least partly what I`m looking for. I`m shooting a lot with manual focus lately anyway.

Sigma Dream

I had a dream last night I was shooting an epic wedding with amazing light with my Sigma 30 1.4. I could not get it to focus the entire wedding. I was freaking out, fortunately in my dream I had the 43 1.9 as a backup.
