It's been that price for a while now. What is even more interesting is it's not even on the buydig or beach camera site anymore.

Looks like between the rebates & low inventory that Pentax is trying to empty the supply chain for the K10D replacement. With Nikon & Canon making announcements this week, Pentax can't be far behind.

I'm still with the DS, so keep an eye on prices over here from time to time.
I was in a store a couple of days ago looking at the K10D display and was approached by the salesman, I asked about body only price and started to get the lecture on why I needed to buy the kit, and how my old film lens wouldn't be any good....all I had asked at this point was the price on the body.

which really p===s me off big time.
Anyway, let him go on and then told him I had a DS.....ohhhh

Once he had recovered his compusure I again asked the price for the body only and he surprised me with his answer, "negotiable at the moment AND was going to become even more so in the near future"....so something is up.

Pretty much takes all the air out of the idea that they're going to introduce a camera between the K100D Super and the K10D -- at this price, the K10D is that camera already.

Probably not really. They look like yet another bait-and-switch scammer. Dunno why this hits online camera sales so hard, but it's like a plague. Check out their ratings on BizRate:

Can the price get any lower???

Or will the K10D simply sell out of stock???

I heard the K1 at 12 mp will have a crop of 1.3.. does that make sense??

I need the 1.5 crop to max out the mm performance of my BIGMA to shoot wildlife.

Any thoughts??

That's the rumor, and it's close enough to reasonable to be plausible.

This is mostly a myth. Instead, crop out the middle portion of your larger-frame sensor. Presto, almost the same thing. But in any case, even if the K1D or K5D is 1.3x crop, it's likely the K10D successor ("K20D") in the $1000 price range will stick to a 1.5x crop.
