Pentax K-R - rather interesting name - maybe it's digital version of Ricoh KR

Ricoh KR are a lot of models in this series of cameras...

maybe EVIL and K-r will be the one camera.
maybe K-r - means RETRO.

Interesting! I can't help but compare it's boxiness to my K7, however. Especially in the prism area.

An old roommate of mine relinquished a battered Ricoh to me a while back, but it was barely usable. He wasn't very kind to it. *frowns*

Interesting. I have two old Ricoh film bodies - an XR7 and a XR2s.

Maybe Pentax should just release a digital back for their old film bodies? That would be cool

I'd like one for my MX pls, Pentax if you are listening.

I already joked that K-r might be a Ricoh-Pentax co-production some days ago, but I guess many didn't get the joke

IF the K-r name is correct, my hunch is that the r in K-r is the R in WR. I suspect (or hope) that the K-r will be the synthesis of K-x and K200D, i.e. a K-x like body with WR (and of course it will beat the K-x on several points of the spec list too, like AF indicators, more MP and better video mode). It would be nice if it had top LCD too, but I guess they might have dropped that in order to get a more compact body than K200D.

If it's really a WR body, I guess it will be sold with the WR kit lens, and then it would make sense to keep the K-x with the L lens at a much lower price than now (here in Norway, you can still even get the K-m, so Pentax competes in the bottom price segment with A230, D3000 and 1000D. I expect the K-x to be in that segment soon).

Actually it is the K7 with an EOS mount that Ken Rockwell ordered, hence the name.

OK, I promised not to say anything but...:
Paul Ewins was very close to the truth. The K-r is the first Pentax that even Ken Rockwell would like. But... it will have a Nikon mount.

The K-R is obviously a co-production with Leica to use old R-mount lenses. That's what Leica was talking about when they discussed the possibility of a digital R solution. Obviously.

A digital back for your MX would cost more than the 645D.
